Linz, a lovely city nestled along the curves of the Danube river, carries a name that poetically means 'a settlement at the river's bend'.


Overflowing with rich history and brimming with vibrant culture, Linz feels like a storybook town.

Linz holds a special place as the town where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his renowned "Linz Symphony."  


In 1783 during a stopover in Linz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote the Symphony No. 36 (Linz Symphony) in just 4 days!  


Located in the historic center of the city,  the Mozarthaus isn’t open for public but the inner court is worth a visit.

The central hub of Linz's historic district is the Hauptplatz, or the Main Square.


This picturesque square is comprised of beautiful architecture, shops, cathedrals and cafes.


Standing tall in the center of the square is a statue of the Holy Trinity Column, a Baroque masterpiece.


Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the cobblestone streets as you explore.


The Schlossmuseum Linz Austria

In the year 1800, a fire destroyed the southern wing of the Linzer castle.


A new wing was rebuilt in modern glass-and-steel architecture as a museum but kept the castle foundation intact resulting in a half-open story.


The Schlossmuseum Linz, also known as the Linz Castle Museum is housed within the historic Linz Castle, offering visitors a beautiful blend of old and new.


The Linz Parish Church Roman-Catholic church building was built at the beginning of the 13th century in Romanesque style as a three-nave basilica.


The Parish Church of Linz is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Upper Austria.

The interior of the church is very rich with many details in the Baroque style.


Linz Cathedral, or Mariendom, is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture.


The cathedral's twin spires are an iconic sight, and its interior is a showcase of intricate stained glass windows and ornate altars.

Opened in 2003, the Lentos Art Museum is a modern architectural wonder.


This museum is among the most important modern art museums in Austria.




You can find about 1,500 paintings, sculptures and works of object art, about 10,000 works of art on paper and 1,200 photographs.

In the evenings, enjoy a beautiful colorful light display along the Danube River.
